Connected

Seeing the power lines stretching off into the distance reminded me of how isolated Hood Head is and, even in these modern times, the thin link it has with population

The Hook

Hook lighthouse just before dawn on the day of the South-East Photowalk. I didn't do much research beforehand but as soon as I arrived at the lighthouse I knew I wanted this image of the twilight sky and beam frozen. It took some quick experimentation with the ISO and aperture to balance the quality and achieve the shutter speed required to freeze the light.

As it turned out, this was by far the most photogenic light of the day and I abandoned the rest of the walk in the mid-afternoon.

Galley Head Lighthouse

10sec exposure at Galley Head. This photoblog will be on autopilot for the next few days whilst I’m in hospital. Can’t wait to get out and start shooting again though!

Galley Head at Dusk

Several long (10-30 secs) exposures were combined to make this image and I love how it looks. Not your typical comic-book HDR shot, I hope.

Into the Light

This was taken from the beach at Dirk Bay, Co. Cork, looking at Galley Head. It was taken directly into the sun and I liked the monochromatic effect. Possibly a touch underexposed but I needed 1/4000s to prevent the sun burning out too much.
