Ratty – our local (but hopefully not resident) rat

Another recent visitor to the garden: “Ratty”. I don’t mind rats as they’re no different to the rabbits that visit the garden as long as a) they’re not in the house; b) they’re not in the garage; c) they’re not around the kids and d) they don’t eat the bird food. So far, I think this one has been thwarted but I’ll be keeping an eye on him.

Last week I setup the bird feeders near the living room windows and today I added my own photographically-acceptable perch for the birds to queue up on. So far I pretty happy with the results, even if this was shot through a double-glazed window, in crap light at 1/25sec at 250mm!

We’ve had an embarrassingly small amount of snow in Cork but the clear skies have meant that it hasn’t thawed since Tuesday and has instead turned to ice. I hate ice.
